Yesterday evening, the anti-choice faction in the North Carolina House passed 70-44 a resolution to allow “Choose Life” vanity license plates with proceeds going to various crisis pregnancy centers.
An amendment to allow Pro-Choice vanity plates with proceeds going to pro-choice organizations was introduced by Rep. Gillespie. Unfortunately it failed to pass despite statements made by anti-choice representatives about the issue of free speech and viewpoint discrimination.
Many thanks to the Representatives who stood firm against anti-choice rhetoric during this debate.
The resolution still needs to pass the state Senate.
