Governor Perdue may have vetoed H.B 854 (Woman’s Right to Know) but the General Assembly still needs to sustain that veto.
H.B. 854 would require more restrictions on abortion procedures, including a mandatory 24-hour waiting period, an ultrasound, and a politician-written script that interferes with doctor-patient confidentiality.
H.B. 854 is terrible for anyone with a uterus (as well as those who care about them). Not only will this bill interject ideology into the exam room, it puts women’s health at risk by not even including exceptions for the cases of rape, incest or fetal anomalies. Such restrictions will further restrict access to abortion procedures, and will disproportionately affect low-income women.
