RALEIGH– Suzanne Buckley, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina and Ilyse Hogue, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America announced today that the organization’s political action committee, NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC, has endorsed Alma Adams in her race for U.S. House of Representatives in NC’s 12th Congressional district.
“Some decisions are easy,” said NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue. “And the decision to endorse Alma Adams for Congress was one of them. Alma has been a true champion for women and our families for decades. We know that she will continue to lead the fight to protect and expand our reproductive rights in Congress, and we’re excited to help her get there.”
“Alma Adams was among the first to stand up and speak out in defense of women’s access to reproductive health care and she’s never wavered in her commitment to reproductive freedom,” said Suzanne Buckley, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina. “Adams believes in fighting for reproductive justice. While extreme lawmakers were attempting to take our state back in time, Alma was pushing for equal pay, Medicaid expansion, paid family leave, and access to family planning services.”
“I am honored to have the endorsement and support of NARAL. A woman’s right to choose has always been an important issue for me and it always will. The support of this organization will further boost my campaign and help elect me to Congress where I can be an even stronger voice for a woman’s right to choose,” said Adams.
Adams is challenged in the May 6th Democratic primary by six other Democrats.
NARAL Pro-Choice America and NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina have 42,000 member activists in the Tar Heel state.
