Falling behind in the polls, Thom Tillis has turned to outright flip-flopping in a last ditch effort to save face with hundreds of thousands of voters he previously denied health coverage. This week, he told Time Warner Cable News of Medicaid expansion, “I would encourage the state legislature and governor to consider it.”
According to Huffington Post‘s Samantha Lachman, Tillis is now singing a very different tune than earlier this year:
“In his primary earlier this year, Tillis ran an ad saying that he “stopped Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion cold.” North Carolina’s House of Representatives, which Tillis leads, passed a bill in February rejecting an expansion, which would have provided health care to an estimated 500,000 low-income North Carolinians. The state is one of 23 that have, so far, refused to expand the program despite funding from the federal health care reform law.
“‘It’s not happening in North Carolina, and it’s because of Thom Tillis,’ the ad said.”
Tillis’ opponent, incumbent Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC), is a consistent advocate for access to health care and has worked hard to make life better for NC women and families. She deserves your vote this fall.
